How an Atrazine Ban Would Effect Farmers Financially
University of Chicago economist Don L. Coursey, Ph.D. discusses his new research about how much farmers have to lose if atrazine was banned: $26-$58 dollars per acre, or $2.3 to $5 billion annually.
How an Atrazine Ban Would Cut Agriculture Jobs
University of Chicago economist Don L. Coursey, Ph.D. discusses his new research on how a ban on atrazine would reduce agriculture jobs. He states 21,000 and 41,000 jobs could be lost. Unemployment would go up 2.6 percent, increasing to 14.6 percent in the agriculture field and up to 10 – 25 percent in the corn sub sector.
Conservation Tillage and Atrazine
University of Chicago economist Don L. Coursey, Ph.D. talks about how atrazine supports conservation tillage, a farming practice that has many benefits, including reducing soil runoff. If atrazine was banned, it would be difficult for farmers to practice conservation tillage.
Atrazine Ban Would Devastate Farmers and Communities
The banning of atrazine would take income away from farmers, says University of Chicago economist Don L. Coursey, Ph.D. This would devastate farmers and their communities.
